truth

So I wrote this a few weeks ago and I thought I would share..:)

This morning I woke up with feelings of heaviness, dread, and guilt. I went to my journal and to the Scriptures and attempted to do my quiet time, but I realized very quickly that I was coming to God's Word simply in the hope that it would change my emotions. I was doing this on nothing more than an expectation that the Bible would be some type of quick fix for my feelings. I realized that if I only come to Scripture and blindly look for some type of emotional fix, I will begin to get a skewed perception of truth. I choose instead to look at the absolute truth of what God has said to me as His daughter in His Word.
Rom 7:7-25: we will always struggle with sin
Eph 2:5b: I have been saved by grace (not by my own merit!)
Eph 1:11-14: God has chosen me, I am in Christ
Rom 8:28-39: I am more than a conqueror through Christ
Rom 8:1-2: NO CONDEMNATION!!
2 Corinthians 7:1: I am called to be pure because of Christ
Hebrews 13:5-6: God promises He will never leave me
Phil 1:6: God will complete His work in me
I was very challenged to make sure that I am basing my life on truth and not feelings. God's Word and His truth can and will affect every aspect of my life, including my emotions, but these emotions cannot be the basis of how I daily live my life.
